House:  March 29, 2014

A Genealogy Open
House will be offered, free, on Saturday, March 29th from 10 am to
2:00 pm, at the Madison Family History Center in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints (LDS), 275 Warpas Road, Madison, CT.    Twelve LDS Family History Centers are located across
Connecticut, where more than 2,500,000 records are available to the public.   



At the open
house, a variety of highly skilled genealogical specialists will be available
to assist and instruct both beginners as well as advanced genealogists.

Learn how to
effectively use technology and the Internet, and

capture
and store data,

get
data onto your phone or iPad,

research
and share information with other family members.



Visit
stations with experts

specializing
in Italian, Swedish, Irish, English, and United States genealogy,



-      
providing
instruction on how to write family and personal histories,



-      
demonstrating
techniques for restoring and preserving old family photographs and directly
applying them to the preservation of family history.



In addition,
the Family History Center will be open and staffed by our family history
consultants who will be conducting tours and offering hands-on opportunities
for persons to experience family history work up close and personal.



Feel free to
bring along any family records, such as birth, death or marriage information.
If all you have is a name and you are experiencing difficulty tracing a person,
our specialists will more than likely be able to assist you with your research.



Start with
the Open House in Madison on March 29, then use any of the other 11 LDS family history centers: Bloomfield, Danbury,
Goshen, Manchester, Milford, Mystic, New Canaan, New Haven, Newtown,
Southington and Woodbridge.  The centers
are open to all researchers, most of whom are not members of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  We do not
proselytize nor do we conduct any missionary work in our Family History
Centers.
