A treat for local birders!

Local bird enthusiasts delight in CT Audubon Director Miley Bull's nature walk for the Farmington Land Trust's first Stroll on the Land last month.

The Farmington Land Trust’s first "Stroll on the Land" was held on Thursday, May 24th. The stroll was led by renowned birder Milan Bull, Senior Director of Science and Conservation for the Connecticut Audubon Society. The group assembled at the parking lot near the town boat put-in on Meadow Road.

Director Milan “Miley” Bull led a crowd of 30 bird enthusiasts through the Land Trust’s Cowles Parcel, a lovely level trail that follows the river, approximately 2 miles long. The crowd was delighted by his storytelling and bits of bird lore. He directed their attention to favorable habitats and to bird calls and sightings along the walk.

At one point, he mimicked a baby bird distress call and responding birds came flocking to the site, to the amazement of the crowd. Members of the Farmington Land Trust thanked Director Bull for accepting their invitation to lead the walk.

He has graciously promised to return to Farmington to lead another birding session for the group later in the season.

The Cowles parcel is maintained by the Land Trust and is open to all year round for walking and jogging.
