UNICO is a national Italian-American community service organization.  The Farmington chapter was founded in 1970 with a mission to provide high school graduates with scholarships and to financially support community service organizations and youth groups.  Serata Primaverile, a Spring social, museum open house and wine tasting presented by UNICO of Farmington and Hill-Stead museum was a recent fundraiser.  Guests were invited to browse the historic house at their own pace with museum interpreters on hand to answer questions about the Pope family, house or artworks.  The house tour was followed by a taste of Italy wine tasting accompanied by antipasti , espresso and cookies provided by local Italian and other restaurants.  The proceeds from this event support Hill-Stead educational programming and UNICO scholarships to graduating seniors from Farmington and West Hartford High Schools.
