13-Year-Old Farmington Girl Selling Lemonade for a Cause

Grace Bergin has already raised more than $27K for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

A Farmington youth is selling lemonade this Memorial Day weekend to benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Grace Bergin, 13, is running the lemonade stand for the sixth year in a row. She said she was inspired by the book “Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand,” a story about how one person’s actions can impact others.

Grace accepts donations on her website, and she has already raised more than $27,000 through selling the $1 cups of lemonade. She has surpassed the amount she gathered last year by $14,500 and counting. Her goal is to raise $35,000.

Grace’s Lemonade Stand opens at 6 p.m. today at Naples Pizza, on 838 Farmington Ave. It also will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Fleet Sports, at 1003 Farmington Ave., West Hartford., and from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, along the Farmington Memorial Day Parade route. The parade is set to start at 10:30 a.m.
