Farmington Cares. Do You? Volunteers Needed!

Every year, Nancy Parent of Farmington Social Services assesses the need in town and the Farmington Community Chest assigns volunteers to complete various projects to help fellow residents.

The annual Farmington Cares Day is June 1 and the non-profit is seeking more volunteers to help out.

"It's kind of Farmington giving back to Farmington," said Nancy Sylvester, a member of the organization's board of directors and a Farmington Cares Day volunteer.

Last year, she cleaned the apartment of someone who needed the help. The Community Chest, founded in 1931, serves to improve the health educational opportunities and life in the community. Every year, the Farmington Community Chest raises funds for programming and projects.

"We're working hands as well," Sylvester said.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact event co-chairs Carol Brochu  at brochuc@gmail.com or 860-670- 4366 or Sue Clark at msclark6@comast.net  or  860-673-0750.

The volunteers will convene at the Farmington Community Center on New Britain Ave. by 8:30 am. Saturday to have a light breakfast. They will work on the projects throughout the day and return to the center around 1 p.m for lunch.
