There's no shortage of cool things on tap this weekend from music, festivals, shows and fireworks.  Our Weekend Guide is just a sampling, make sure you also check out our event calendar so you don’t miss a single event!  You're sure to have a blast and you know your kiddos will love you for it.  

Friday  

Collinsville Jamboree and Fireworks
Gather the kids and head to the Collinsville Volunteer Fire Department’s 47th annual Jamboree for rides, games and fireworks.   

Where:  91 Powder Mill Road, Collinsville
When:  Friday – 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Fee:  Ride Bracelets are $22  

A Capella Performance by UConn’s A Completely Different Note
Don’t miss the opportunity to see A Completely Different Note - UConn's Premiere All Male A Capella Group Live at Union Elementary School!  This family friendly show will have you and your kiddos singing and dancing along.  Money raised by this show will directly fund the purchase of new chairs for Union School choir and orchestra students.  

Where:  Union Elementary School, 173 School Street, Unionville (Farmington) When:  Friday – 6:30 PM
Fee:  Tickets are available at the door for $7    

New Britain Rock Cats Baseball
A perfect night for baseball – take the fam to see the New Britain Rock Cats take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.  There will be a Pyrotechnics show after the gates. The Simsbury Spinners Baton Twirling Team will be performing before the game and will also be performing a fire baton routine before the Pyrotechnics show.    

Where: New Britain Stadium, 230 John Karbonic Way, New Britain
When: Friday - 6:35, gates open at 5:05
Fee: Tickets range from $6 - $20  

Princess and the Pea
R. D. Seymour School students in East Granby just finished participating in a week-long theatre residency sponsored in part by the Allgrove/Seymour PTO. Students will share what they have learned by presenting  a new musical version of the classic fairy tale, The Princess and the Pea at the East Granby High School Auditorium. Tickets are $6.00 and are available at the door. Allgrove and Seymour students will be admitted free of charge when accompanied by an adult.

When:  Friday, 7:00 PM
Fee:  Tickets are available at the door for $6  

Saturday  

All-4-Kids Consignment Sale
Don’t miss your chance to stock up on some great deals for summer!  This sale offers a huge selection of gently used, quality children's clothes, baby gear, toys, books, games, and sporting equipment. All proceeds from the sale benefit the Latimer Lane PTO. Additionally, unsold, donated merchandise support Cradles to Crayons or other organizations benefiting children.   

Where:  Latimer Lane Elementary School, 33 Mountain View Road, Weatogue (Simsbury)
When:  Saturday – 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Fee:  FREE  

Art Explorers
Drop-in art program at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Students learn to express their creativity using varied art methods and materials to create personal works of art. New themes will be explored each month with different projects weekly. For ages 6-8.

Where: New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington Street, New Britain
When: Saturday, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Fee: Members $5 per class; non-members $7 per class

Art Start
This program helps caregivers and little ones discover art together in the Museum galleries. Listen to stories about art and then explore line, shape and color with Museum educators. For preschoolers.

Where: New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington Street, New Britain
When: Saturday, 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM
Fee: Members $3 per class; non-members $5 per class

Drum Away the Blues
Drum away the blues at the Avon Public Library with Craig Harris.  All ages are welcome.  

Where:  Avon Public Library Community Room, 281 Country Club Rd, Avon When:  Saturday – 2:00 PM
Fee:  FREE  

Sunday  

Family Fun Day at the New Britain Rock Cats
Gather the fam for a day at the ballpark to watch the New Britain Rock Cats take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.  Even better, it’s Family Fun Day and the first 1,500 kids under 12 get a batting glove. Plus you can stick around after the game and let your kiddo run the bases for an afternoon they’re sure to remember!

When: Sunday, Game starts at 1:35, gates open at 12:05
Fee: Tickets range from $6 - $20
