Fourteen Kingswood Oxford Seniors Plan to Play Collegiate Sports

During an April 3 ceremony packed with family, coaches, teammates, and friends, a dozen Kingswood Oxford seniors announced their intention to compete in athletics at the collegiate level.

These are in addition to two students – Patrick Hallisey (golf at Boston College) and Gage Sanders (lacrosse at the University of Tampa) -- who had announced their commitments in December 2013.

Together, these 14 students represent 15% of KO’s Class of ’14 – a remarkably high number compared with national statistics, according to KO Athletic Director Sue Cabot.

“Nationally, only about 4% of the Class of ’14 will move on to play collegiate athletics,” said Cabot. “Your dedication, hard work, and sacrifice have afforded you this opportunity, and on behalf of our entire athletic department, I want to congratulate all of you.”

Head of School Dennis Bisgaard echoed her praise, adding that he was particularly struck by how much these student-athletes had achieved off the playing fields, as well: “You are also musicians, artists, class leaders, Cum Laude honor society members – this is a very impressive group!”
