What's Open, What's Closed the Day After Veterans Day in Farmington?

Monday marks the observance of Veterans Day. Is your business open or closed?

Sunday, Nov. 11, was Veterans Day, a federal holiday on which we pay tribute to those who have served our country in the Armed Forces. The holiday is celebrated today, Monday, Nov. 12.

Veterans Day was originally named Armistice Day when it was signed into law in 1938 to honor the Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I on Nov. 11, 1918. Here's a look at some of what's open and closed:

  • All federal, state and municipal buildings are closed
  • Farmington Public schools are closed
  • Farmington Public Library is closed
  • Banks are closed
  • Post offices are delivering Express Mail only
  • The Connecticut DMV is closed
  • The U.S. stock markets are closed
  • Buses and commuter rail are operating on normal schedules
  • Most businesses are open
