Letter: Scouts Say Thanks to Those that Gave

Scouts and community teamed up to help neighbors in need through food drive.

During November, Boy Scouts from Troop’s 68 and 170, Cub Scouts from Packs 37 and 170, and the Farmington Girl Scouts distributed notices for the Scouting for Food drive to 7300 homes in Farmington.  Donations  were collected, sorted, and stocked at the Farmington Food Pantry.

The Farmington Food Pantry serves 130 families that consist of 120 adults, 85 children, and 59 seniors.  The numbers are consistent with the previous three years.  However, families are utilizing the food pantry more often.  The families that are struggling seem to have much more need.

Through their combined effort, the scouts collected 9,379 pounds of food for the pantry.  Thanks to those that helped; and, thanks to those that helped our neighbors.  If you missed the drive or would like to make a contribution, please send your check payable to The Farmington Food Pantry 75 Main Street Farmington CT 06032.
