The Farmington Exchange Club--A Tradition of Service and Charity 85 Years Strong

My friend and fellow Exchange Club member, Skip Mason, asked to borrow my blog to let you all know about a milestone our club celebrated last month. I was there and am very happy to share Skip's recap of the evening. Let me observe that Skip is also a Past President of the club and runs our annual Christmas Wreath sale to help support the club's charities. Thanks Skip!

The Exchange Club of Farmington observed its 85th Anniversary on Thursday April 25th, 2013, at the Country Club of Farmington. Twenty two of thirty four living past presidents attended the 85th anniversary of the club.

Shown above are some of the past presidents, including Russell Hunter who was elected President of the club in 1957 and current Connecticut District President Michael DeNegris. In 85 years one father and son have served as President (Craig and Parker Fleming) and one grandson and grandfather (Richard and R.E. Parsons). Five past presidents have served as Connecticut District State Presidents (Craig Fleming, Justin Pagano, Lynn Lansberry, Dean Boundy, and John Salmon).

The Exchange Club of Farmington has sponsored Boy Scout Troop 68 since 1929. Members of troop 68 presented the colors under Scoutmaster Ted Sanford’s guidance. Ted Sanford's grandfather was the third president in 1933. Russ Hunter was also Troop 68 scoutmaster, in the early 50s. After dinner Connecticut District President Michael DeNegris presented current and 81st president John Javaruski with a proclamation from the National Exchange Club. Past President Jerry Pagano inducted three new members to the club. Master of Ceremonies Past President Kevin Ray then introduced each president in attendance; each gave an impromptu speech summarizing their year, and then assembled for a group portrait to end the evening.
