Malinowski died Nov. 29, 2010 after a heroin injection.

According to Lt. Marshall Porter of the Farmington police, the two friends were apparently shooting heroin in the woods at the West Hartford Reservoir. Jedidian reportedly called a friend and told him that he had injected Malinowski with heroin and that he was acting paranoid and said that he thought he had overdosed and was thinking of leaving him. The friend reportedly told Jedidian to call 911, which he didn’t do. When the friend called back about 30 minutes later, Jedidian reportedly told the friend Malinowski was now turning blue, having seizures and foaming at the mouth. The friend then called 911.

Porter said the call went through a few departments before reaching West Hartford police. An ambulance responded and transported Malinowski to UConn Health Center, where he was pronounced dead.

West Hartford police discovered the spot in the woods was over the town line and under Farmington jurisdiction, so Farmington took over the case.

After an autopsy report, a warrant was issued for Jedidian’s arrest. He is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of paraphernalia, first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree giving a false statement.

Porter said more serious charges were not lodged because the two were voluntarily using heroin together.

“They were friends,” he said. “This is just tragic all around.”

Jedidian is being held on $50,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.

Avon High School Principal Jason Beaudin confirmed that Jedidian attended Avon High School from Feb. 5, 2007 to Nov. 10, 2008. According to Newell Porch, Avon High School temporary athletic coordinator, Jedidian played football in 2008 during his junior year; he was not on the varsity squad.
