When a bank foreclosed on a home on Fairview Drive in Farmington, they got more than they bargained for.
While cleaning out the house at 36 Fairview Drive, bank representatives found a stockpile of weapons, Farmington Police Lt. Marshall Porter said.
When the company came in to do inventory, they found 130 rifles, a couple of grenades and a mortar round, Porter said. There was also 20,000 rounds of ammunition.
The bomb squad was called in as a precaution but all of the grenades and the mortar are inert and very old, Porter said.
All of the guns, which now belong to the bank, are legally registered and no charges have been filed, Porter said.
The former owner of the house was David Gagliardi.
