Canton Police, U.S. Marshals Nab Man Wanted in Florida

A 43-year-old man wanted in Florida was apprehended by Canton officers and the United States Marshals Service at Chinatown Monday night, police said.

At approximately 6 p.m. police investigated a tip that Mei Wang Cheng, 43, was working at the 250 Albany Turnpike Restaurant, found the suspect and charged him as a fugitive from justice. He is being held on a $1 million bond and will be presented in Hartford Superior Court Tuesday, where a judge will likely order him extradited to Florida.

According to the Florida Crime Information Center he is wanted by the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Tuesday morning, Canton police said he was wanted in Florida for three charges — robbery with a firearm, burglary with a firearm and kidnapping with a firearm. At least two of the charges stem from May of 2013.
