Farmington Police Advise Locking Car Doors After Rash of Thefts

Farmington Police are reminding residents to keep their car doors locked and valuables inside their homes after a string of car break-ins this week.

Between April 16 and 21, residents reported that someone had gone through their unlocked cars and taken various items.

The break-ins occurred mostly in the Highlands, with some by Westfarms mall, Farmington Police Lt. Marshall Porter said. Police don’t believe incidents at the two locations are necessarily related.

The thefts are generally preventable, Porter said, since perpetrators are unlikely to smash windows or pry open doors.
