Farmington Police Conduct Spring Safety Campaign

Department to step up enforcement as warm weather approaches.

As the Spring season and warmer weather fast approaches, the Farmington Police Department is dedicating its efforts to increasing awareness of safe driving and to help reduce motor vehicle collisions and injuries suffered from violations of traffic safety laws. It is important to remind the motoring public of three basic rules of highway safety: Always Buckle Up. Obey Posted Speed Limits and Traffic Laws. Never Drink and Drive.

The Farmington Police Department will be stepping up the enforcement of safety belt, child safety seat, speed, distracted driving, and DUI laws heading into the spring season. A highly visible, concentrated effort will be conducted during the “Spring Safety Campaign”, with the enforcement period running from April 18 through May 8.

Focus will be on the areas of River Road, Brickyard Road, and New Britain Avenue during this campaign, due to the increased pedestrian traffic along the “Rails to Trails.” However, enforcement action will be conducted throughout the entire Town of Farmington in an effort to reduce motor vehicle collisions, promote safe driving and increase pedestrian safety.
