Farmington Police Seeking Public's Help in Purse Snatching Case

A woman in her late 70s was the target of a strong-armed robbery and purse snatching in Farmington.

Police are seeking help from the public in locating the suspect or suspects.

The robbery occurred just prior to 9:22 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, according to  Lt. Colin F. Ryan.

The victim called 911 to report that an unknown male wearing all black grabbed her as she entered the attached garage of her house, took her purse and ran from the scene.

Two witnesses said they had seen a male and female running in the area prior to the police arriving.

The witnesses saw a white male running down the street toward a parked car, Ryan said.

They described the car as a smaller dark colored car - possibly green - and thought it may be a Ford Escort or Fusion.

The witnesses described the male and female as follows:  The male was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and the female was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with blonde hair sticking out of the hood.

At 10:11 p.m. that same night, a female suspect used a credit card belonging to the victim. She reportedly made a purchase at TA Truck Stop in Southington.

Police provided the still photos of the suspect and one of the vehicle crossing in the foreground is also attached.  The pictures are attached the article.

There was a male passenger in the vehicle with the female, while she made the purchase at the truck stop.

The vehicle and suspect descriptions are consistent with information given by the witnesses, Ryan said.

The Farmington Police Department case number for the incident is 14-8139.

Anyone with information as to the suspects' identities is asked to contact Detective Frink at the Farmington Police Department at 860-675-2463 or by leaving a message on FPD’s tip line at 860-675-2483.
