Head-On Crash Sends Man to Hospital with Life-Threatening Injuries

Police say the accident, on Farmington Avenue near Mountain Spring Road, is under investigation.

Farmington Avenue was closed for several hours Monday after two vehicles collided into each other head on.

Farmington Police said one of the drivers was transported via Life Star Helicopter to Hartford hospital for life-threatening injuries. The man, whose identity was not released, was listed in critical condition as of 3 p.m. on May 12.

Police responded to the scene of the accident, on Farmington Avenue in the area of Mountain Spring Road, at about 10:30 a.m. after receiving several 911 calls Arriving officers found a white four-door sedan and tan pick-up truck with severe front end damage to both vehicles, police said.

The driver of the pick-up truck had no apparent injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital via AMR Ambulance for precautionary reasons, according to police. The operator of the white sedan was unresponsive on scene and was extricated from his vehicle by fire department personnel before being taken to the hospital, police said. 

Farmington Avenue was closed for several hours while representatives from the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad (NCMARS) conducted its investigation.
