Police issued Glenn Kathan, an employee of Discount Liquors on Scott Swamp Road, a misdemeanor summons on charges of selling alcohol to an individual under 21.

Only one of 11 establishments that sell liquor in Farmington sold to a 20-year-old "decoy" police sent in to test whether the employees would sell to minors during an alcohol compliance check.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Farmington police issued Glenn Kathan, 41, a misdemeanor summons on charges of sale of alcohol to a minor. Kathan is an employee at Discount Liquors at 343 Scott Swamp Rd. in Farmington.

During the alcohol compliance check, a 20-year-old "decoy," who was "under the supervision of Farmington Police personnel" went into the 11 liquor stores and  "attempted to purchase alcohol at each business."

Employees at the other 10 liquor stores refused to sell to the individual in the sting operations. The other Farmington stores subject to the compliance check were Liquor Square, Bottle Shop, Stop and Shop, Surrey, M&R Liquors, The Village Store, The Wine Cellar, La Vinoteque, Valley Wines and Highland Package.

Kathan is scheduled to appear in Hartford Community Court on Dec. 4.
