Man Charged with Burglarizing Local Homes

Police say they found Farmington man with stolen goods from houses, cars in the area.

A local man was arrested Sunday after allegedly breaking into a Winterwood Terrace home and startling the homeowner awake just before 1 a.m. The homeowner confronted the man and he ran from the home, police said.

Police later found William Donnell Lawson, 20, of 35 Mapleridge Drive, walking in the area. Though he was wearing different clothes, he fit the description of the burglary suspect and was identified by the homeowner as the man who had been at his house.

When police found him, Lawson was carrying a backpack with wine, beer, GPS and tools and K-9 Drak found a marine stereo system nearby, according to police.

All of the property found was identified as missing from houses or vehicles in the area and was returned to the owners, police said. Lawson reportedly also had cash, taken from a vehicle.

Farmington detectives recovered other items from Lawson’s home that were reported missing in recent residential burglaries in the area, police said and additional charges are expected.

Lawson was arrested and charged with burglary 1st degree, 5 counts of burglary 3rd degree, 5 counts of larceny 6th degree, and one count of simple trespass.

Lawson is being held on bond.
