Police: Man Calls 911 Asking, 'Could I Get Arrested for Growing Pot?'

The answer was yes.

A local man called 911 Thursday night, asking how much trouble he could get in for growing one marijuana plant, police said Friday. The dispatcher told the caller he could be arrested, and the man reportedly said ‘thank you’ and hung up.

The dispatcher traced the call to 192 Waterville Road and sent Farmington narcotics officers to the home, where they discovered marijuana plants growing.

The man, Robert Michelson, 21, reportedly told police he had spent a lot of money to buy his growing supplies, including seeds, online.

The officers seized a small amount of marijuana along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia, both for growing and smoking the plant.

Michelson was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal cultivation of marijuana, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug factory. He was released on $5,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in court Feb. 8, 2011.

Before leaving the police station, police reported Michelson gave the dispatchers two middle fingers “presumably for doing such a good job.”
