Police Canine Sniffs Out Drugs at Batterson Park

This information was provided by the Farmington Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

A New Britain man parked with his girlfriend after dark in Batterson Park was arrested Tuesday after Farmington Police canine Drak sniffed out drugs in the car, police said.

Police searched the car, driven by Angel Luis Deliz, 19, of 123 Henry St., New Britain, and found 11.5 grams of marijuana. Though a new state statute makes possession of less than 4 ounces just an infraction, the drugs were packaged in little baggies, which police said indicated he intended to sell them.

Deliz was charged possession with intent to sell and released on $10,000 non-surety bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Nov. 1, 2011.
