Police Name Drivers in Head-On Crash

New Britain man crossed center line, police say, to cause crash.

Police have named two out-of-town men as the drivers involved in a head-on crash Wednesday morning, saying one man crossed into oncoming traffic on Route 4 in Farmington.

According to police, Richard Carter, 70, of Torrington was driving westbound in a Toyota Corolla, while David Garlonsky, 64, of New Britain was driving an Oldsmobile Cutlass in the eastbound lane.

Garlonsky was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries and Carter to St. Francis Hospital.

Garlonsky, who police said, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck Carter, will be cited. Police said there are no indications that speed, alcohol or drugs were involved.
