Police: Unionville Credit Card Thief Faces Further Charges

Jayne Spagnolo was arrested a third time after a series of credit card thefts, police said.

A Unionville woman who previously confessed to police that she stole credit cards from three people at the Stop & Shop in town has been arrested again on related charges.

Jayne Lynne Spagnolo, 26, of 1712 Farmington Ave., Unionville, was most recently charged with credit card theft, criminal impersonation, third-degree forgery, third-degree identity theft, illegal use of a credit card and fifth-degree larceny.

She was arrested two other times in the past month after stealing two credits cards from people's wallets in the Unionville Stop & Shop, police said. The first arrest was in July and the other was Aug. 6.

Farmington police Lt. Colin Ryan previously gave this advice on how to protect yourself from being a victim of credit card theft while shopping.

"My advice in this type of case is to not leave your wallets or purses unattended for any length of time," Ryan said. "At a minimum people should have their purses zipped up.  Also, pay attention to your surroundings, be aware of your belongings."

Spagnolo was arrested on an outstanding warrant and held on a $15,000 surety bond. She was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 20.
