Police discovered a 13-year-old girl inside a van with a 29-year-old man Monday around 5 a.m. and charged him with sexual assault.
An officer on routine patrol found the pair when he saw a van parked in a Lake Garda neighborhood with no lights on, according to Lt. Marshall Porter.
The girl had reportedly met Christopher Cantley, 29, of 79 Highland Ave., Waterbury, online and arranged to meet him in Farmington, Porter said.
Cantley was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He appeared in court March 19, where his case was continued until April 9 and his bond was reduced to $50,000. Cantley posted bond and has been released from custody.
