Public Safety Day Offers Fun, Valuable Lessons

Farmington Police Department and Winding Trails co-sponsor annual event for kids.

Kids will have the opportunity to have fun at Winding Trails, ride their bikes with police officers and learn about safety Saturday, May 12 as the Farmington Police Department and Winding Trails hold their annual Public Safety Day.

The event, from 9 a.m. to noon, lets kids join in a bike rodeo, a big wheel rally and games and jump on inflatables. But it also brings them together with Farmington police officers to learn the rules of the road, how to check a bike for safety and to remain in control at all times. Officers ride through a course with kids, simulating traffic situations and conducting bike handling drills.

Parents can also register their children up for Amber Alert and have car seats checked. Pre-register for car seat safety inspections with Officer Blumetti at (860) 675-2400.
