A Friendship Up in Flames

The case: A Middletown woman was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, according to police.

The twist: The accused set fire to her friend’s pair of Nike sneakers, worth $85, and then posted a picture to Instagram, police report. The woman said that the victim had texted her and told her to burn the shoes, which had been left at her home for two months, police said.

The case: Boston police charged a Southington man with unarmed robbery after he sneaked up on a woman as she left a Dorchester transit station and stole her wallet, police report.

The twist: The man dropped two bags at the scene containing his birth certificate and a letter from his mother while committing the crime, according to police.

Restaurant Owner Pooh-poohs Septic Tank Problem

The case: Police charged a Wilton restaurant owner with initiating, creating, originating or maintaining a discharge into state waters without a permit, police report.

The twist: The accused pumped the contents of his restaurant’s septic tank into a storm drain in Wilton, police said. Some of the waste also pooled in the business' parking lot and entered the Norwalk River, according to police.

The case: Police are searching for a suspect who was involved in a fight in Middletown and left a man with a head injury, police said.

The twist: The two men had been brawling over a parking space on Main Street, police report.

The case: A Stamford man was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, according to police.


The twist: The accused, who had been staying at the victim’s home, sliced the victim’s pool liner open after she asked the man to leave, police said.
