The case: A Bozrah man and a Montville juvenile are facing multiple charges after breaking into a Montville home on April 5 to find drugs, police report.
The twist: The homeowner thwarted the attempted robbery when he attacked the Bozrah man with a hand sander, police report. The juvenile fled, but the homeowners retrieved their handgun and shotgun to keep the second man subdued until officers arrived, police said.
Carjacking Earns Man a Ride to the Police Station
The case: Police charged a Middletown man with failure to comply with fingerprinting, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery, interfering with an officer, breach of peace, interfering with an emergency call, misrepresentation with intent to intimidate, attempt to commit crime and second-degree unlawful restraint after he attempted to carjack a woman outside a Middletown medical office building on April 17, according to police.
The twist: According to police, the man's wife said that the accused had just been released from prison before attempting the carjacking. His record includes a previous charge of carjacking as well, police said.

The case: Police charged a Manchester man with cultivation of marijuana, possession of more than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a drug factory, possession of heroin and possession of cocaine after finding marijuana plants and seedlings at his home on April 16, according to police.
The twist: The police were making a return visit to the man's home, after it was mistakenly believed that there was a hostage situation occurring at the residence during Thanksgiving in 2012, police said. The man faced similar charges right after the holiday following a drug bust, according to police.

The twist: Police said that the couple was selling crack cocaine and marijuana out of their home across the street from an elementary school.

The case: A Cheshire man was charged with use of drug paraphernalia and sixth-degree larceny, according to police.
The twist: The man stole $100 from a Middletown restaurant to pay back his heroin dealer, police said. He was found with the cash and a hypodermic needle in his pocket, according to police.
