Sex Offender Charged In Domestic Dispute

Man accused of assaulting, restraining his wife.

A convicted sex offender was arrested in Farmington Monday after allegedly assaulting his wife.

Harry Omar Santana, 35, of 20 Lake Drive, Unionville, was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and second-degree unlawful restraint.

According to police, Santana was arguing with his wife when the fight became physical. She reported that he hit her, then got on top of her, holding her down by the neck and shoulders.

The charge is also the second violation of probation on a conviction for second-degree sexual assault on a victim between 13 and 15 years old when the actor is more than three years older. That incident occurred on Oct. 1, 2003. He was sentenced to 10 years in jail, execution suspended after four years and five years probation. For his first violation of probation, in Sept. 2009, he was sentenced to six years in jail, execution suspended after 18 months with five years probation.

Santana has several other convictions, including for third-degree burglary, for which he was sentenced to four years in jail.

He posted $5,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear Feb. 19.
