Skunk Found in Farmington Tests Positive for Rabies

Sick animal reported at Tunxis Mead.

Farmington Police are reminding residents to keep a tight leash on their dogs after a skunk found at Tunxis Mead tested positive for rabies last week.

According to Lt. Marshall Porter, someone reported seeing the skunk Nov. 29 and Farmington Animal Control Officer Charlene Rogers went out and shot the animal. Testing results came back positive today.

“It’s a good time to remind people to keep their animals on leashes,” Porter said Monday. “It’s not only the law but a good way to limit contact with wild animals. We do get calls from people who see wild animals that are acting suspicious.”
