State Police Continue Investigating I-84 Crash That Incapacitated Driver
Driver Paul Vigneault, of Southington, is being treated at Hartford Hospital.
The driver of a car that collided with a guard rail on I-84 West in Farmington is in Hartford Hospital with serious injuries.
Paul Vigneault, 21, of Southington, sustained "incapacitating injuries" after he was thrown from the 2005 Infinity and was taken to Hartford Hospital, state police said in a report. The vehicle was traveling in the right-most lane of three on the highway in the direction of Waterbury and struck a guard rail on the left shoulder.
His passengers, Kyle Casserino, 22, and Louis Basile, 21, both of Southington, were both transported to the hospital via American Medical Response ambulances to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Casserino went to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford with a laceration on his left arm and Basile was taken to Hartford Hospital to be treated for an abrasion on his face, police said. Both were wearing seat belts and it is unknown if Vigneault was wearing his, police said.
The car, the three Southington residents were in is registered to Joanne Markevich, who lives at the same address as Vigneault. Farmington Motor Sports towed it from the scene.
Farmington volunteer firefighters and state police responded to the incident.
State Police said the accident is still under investigation.
