As we look back on 2013, these were some of the most memorable police, fire and court stories of the year. 

Farmington Man Killed in Police-Involved Shooting (December)

Late evening on Dec. 12, police responded to reports of domestic violence involving Gregory Bendas and his father-in-law. Officers found Bendas armed in the front yard and on police officer shot him when he pointed his handgun at law enforcement, State Police said. Bendas died from the gunshot wounds. State Police are still investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Fatal Crash into Farmington Country Club (June)

Thaddeus L. Singleton III was killed when the car he was driving veered off the road and crashed into the Farmington Country Club. He was married to one of the cousins of Aaron Hernandez, who is being investigated on murder charges.

Robert Zordan Case (June)

In the case of Robert Zordan, accused of threatening to shoot his coworkers at a Farmington business, police said that they did legally sieze his guns despite the defense arguing otherwise and a court requiring the department to return all weapons but one illegal firearm.

Double Fatal Crash on Route 6 (October)

Melinda Hart, 27, a mother who was eight months pregnant, and Ruth Carroll, 86, both of Bristol, died when their cars collided on Route 6 on Columbus Day.
