Two Drivers Injured in Crash that Closed Route 4

Police are investigating head-on accident in front of Worthington Way.

A head-on crash on Route 4 near Worthington Way closed the road for about an hour this morning and sent two men to area hospitals.

According to police, one man in an Oldsmobile Cutlass was heading east, another in a Toyota Corolla west, when the two crashed head-on at the bend in front of Worthington Way at about 9:40 a.m. Both men were the sole occupants of their cars.

The driver of the Oldsmobile was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. The other driver was taken to St. Francis Hospital. LifeStar was requested by medics but was unable to respond.

Farmington Avenue was closed for about an hour and has reopened. Police are investigating the accident and have not yet released the drivers’ names.
