Brian Becker Wants to Represent You in Hartford Again

Brian Becker likes his job as your state representative, and he wants to keep it.

The two-term Democrat this week announced his re-election campaign for the 19th District, which includes the towns of West Hartford, Farmington and Avon.

“I have worked hard to serve the people of the 19th district every day and I would like the opportunity to continue to do so,” Becker said in a press release. “In my short time in the legislature, I have focused on creating jobs, saving energy, preserving municipal aid, and protecting those least able to help themselves. If re‐elected, I would continue to focus on those areas.”

Becker says he has collected enough donations to qualify for public financing through the Citizens’ Election Program, and will file an application with the State Election Enforcement Commission after Democrats hold their nominating convention this weekend.

“I am grateful that many of my constituents have generously stepped forward to support my re-election campaign,” Becker said. "By getting fundraising out of the way early, I can focus on hitting the campaign trail to meet with my constituents.”

Brian Becker was first elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 2010. Brian represents the 19th Assembly District of West Hartford, Avon and Farmington.

He currently practices law with his wife and law partner, Laura Gold Becker, at Becker Law Offices, LLC in West Hartford.

Prior to entering private practice, Brian was Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Director of Corporate Law and Corporate Secretary at The Hartford. In that capacity, he had responsibility for the mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate governance, bankruptcy, real estate, intellectual property, technology and procurement law areas.

Brian earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in economics and history from the University of Pennsylvania.

A lifelong Hartford area resident and graduate of Hall High School, Brian has served in various volunteer capacities over the years including driving for meals on wheels, coaching in youth sports leagues, and reading as a literacy volunteer. He is a member of the Emanuel Synagogue, where he served on the Board of Trustees, founded the Emanuel Brotherhood and served as the Brotherhood’s first President. Brian is an Honorary Director of Foodshare, Inc., the area's regional food bank, having served on its Board of Directors for nine years.

Brian lives in West Hartford with his wife, Laura. They have two sons Casey and Cary.
