Close Results Name Nickerson, Thomas Winners; Require Recount

Jon Landry just 10 votes away from Thomas.

Town Council incumbents Nancy Nickerson and CJ Thomas will continue their run for a second term on the Republican slate, if unofficial results hold in an automatic recount.

Nickerson and Thomas won the highest number of votes during the primary — Nickerson with 375 and Thomas, 316. But Jon Landry, who challenged for and won the party’s endorsement during the caucus, came close to Thomas with 306 votes, triggering the recount, which will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Town Hall.

Of the district’s 2,065 eligible voters, 563 voters participated in the primary.

“I want to thank everyone that worked so hard for me during this primary and always,” Nickerson said. “I so appreciate the town’s support and I’m proud that here in Farmington we had three people who were looking to serve the town.”

Thomas was waiting for official results before counting his win, but said he was also grateful.

“I really appreciate all the people who did great, hard work for me,” Thomas said. “I consider it a win for me — every single person I got to meet and spend time with in the past two weeks.”

Landry said going forward he is committed to working for the party as a team.

“If after the recount CJ and Nancy are victorious, we’ll all get together and I will be ready 100 percent to do everything I can to help them get elected in the general election,” Landry said.

The candidates and public are welcome to attend the recount, which will likely be in the Council Chambers.
