Council Recognizes Skip Pogson
Thanks former Town Plan and Zoning Commission chairman for 24 years of service.
PROCLAMATION:
WHEREAS, in 1989 Skip Pogson was elected to the Town Plan & Zoning Commission, and
WHEREAS, Skip Pogson guided the Commission through two updates of the Farmington Plan of Conservation and Development which established policies for sound and balanced growth and development including maintaining Farmington’s grand list along with substantial growth in the Town’s open space inventory which by percentage is one if not the highest in the State of Connecticut, and

WHEREAS, Skip Pogson oversaw the creation of Farmington’s first Village District Zone for Unionville Center and supported the adoption of a set of new zoning regulations which led to significant improvements to the Center including the construction of the new Stop & Shop Supermarket, and
WHEREAS, under his leadership, Skip Pogson increased mandates for open space under the subdivision regulations and established new regulations protecting neighborhoods from the effects of blasting and other intensive construction activities, and

WHEREAS, during his tenure on the Commission the Town experienced significant increases in population growth and development while maintaining its high quality of life, and
WHEREAS, through the efforts of the Commission Farmington created numerous affordable housing opportunities for persons of low and moderate income which have been attractive additions to the Town’s housing stock, and
WHEREAS, Skip Pogson supported and advocated for improvements to the Town’s infrastructure and municipal buildings, and
WHEREAS, Skip Pogson utilized his knowledge of construction and design to insure the highest quality of development for the Town of Farmington.
NOW THEREFORE, the Farmington Town Council hereby commends Skip Pogson for his excellent work on behalf of the community and we hereby thank him for his selfless dedication and immeasurable contributions and commitment to the Town of Farmington and its residents.
