Democratic councilor leaving seat to serve in Hartford.

Farmington Town Council member Mike Demicco said goodbye Tuesday evening at his last meeting before leaving the council to head to Hartford as the newly elected state representative in the 21st District.

Demicco, a Democrat who has served seven years on the council and fought for elderly tax relief, school funding and help for all Farmington residents, served for his final meeting Monday night.

The council held a reception in his honor preceding the meeting and read a proclamation thanking him for his service.

Council Chairman Jeff Hogan added his own words of thanks.

“Mike, thanks for your seven years of service. I don’t think many people have been able to give the time and sacrifice that go into participating as a member of the council,” Hogan said. “We’ll certainly miss your wordsmithing and a variety of other things.”

“You’ve got a tough session ahead of you,” Hogan said. “We know you’ll put your heart and soul into the process."
