Farmington Recycling Program Expands

Large items and containers can now be recycled in your blue barrel.

The Town of Farmington recycling program has expanded!  The CRRA (Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority) now accepts many new items that can be kept out of the trash:

  • Phone Books
  • Large Toys
  • Beverage Crates
  • Laundry Baskets
  • Recycling Bins
  • Large buckets
  • Storage Containers
  • Hard Cover Books

Any of these items that fit inside the single-stream barrel can be recycled, provided that all metals such as bucket handles and wheel axles are separated from the plastic items, and covers from hard cover books are removed and placed in the trash.  A complete breakdown of all items residents can recycle, along with instruction on preparing those items for recycling, is on the CRRA’s website http://www.crra.org.

Yellow Pages Recycling

Yellow Pages recycling for those residents not on the Town’s trash/recycle pickup is now located at the Staple House parking lot (next to the Main Library) in a small dumpster.  It will no longer be at the ATT Building on Main Street (Route 10).
