“We want to be sure all taxpayers are aware of the deadline so that they can avoid penalties, as failure to receive a bill does not abate the interest charges assessed on all unpaid bills as of August 2, 2013,” said Tax Collector Christine Robinson. “We’re also happy to offer Farmington residents the convenience of more payment options this year.”

The online option

Residents can now view and pay their current real estate, personal property and motor vehicle taxes online. Part of Farmington’s green initiative, the new online payment and e-bill service offers residents more flexibility in paying their bills (including customized payment plans) while helping the environment. The system is easy to use and allows residents to pay bills with either a bank account or credit/debit card. No registration will be required to pay bills or view an online replica of the paper bills. Payment receipts will be sent via email or will be printed directly from the computer screen.

Residents who register, go paperless and/or enroll in auto-pay before 9/30/13 will be entered into a sweepstakes (sponsored by the online payment service) to win an iPod nano.
