May 2 Referendum Covers Budget and Bonding Questions

Questions involve road repairs and improvements to Irving A. Robbins Middle School.

Farmington residents will vote on May 2 on whether to pass the budget recommended by the Town Council as well as on three separate bonding questions.

The ballot with the exact wording of the items can be viewed here.

The town council approved a budget that would increase spending by 1.87 percent. Residents who attended a town meeting last week had little to say about the budget but commented on the capital projects represented in the bonding issues.

The three bonding questions are these:

1) Shall the town of Farmington appropriate $3,000,000 for repairs to and reconstruction of various town roads and drainage systems and authorize the issuance of bonds and notes in the same amount to finance said appropriation?

2) Shall the town of Farmington appropriate $1,100,000 for replacement of the heating system at the Irving A. Robbins Middle School and authorize the issuance of bonds and notes in the same amount to finance said appropriation?

3) Shall the town of Farmington appropriate $1,375,000 for parking lot improvements, installations of an emergency generator and tennis courts replacement at the Irving A. Robbins middle school and authorize the issuance of bonds and notes in the same amount to finance said appropriation?

Voting will take place on Thursday, May 2, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the regular polling places.
