Reception Planned for Councilman Headed to Hartford

Public invited to reception for Mike Demicco.

A reception is planned for Town Council member Mike Demicco before the Dec. 11 meeting. Demicco, a Democrat, has served on the council for seven years, and was recently elected Farmington's state representative from the 21st District. He will be sworn into office in January and leave a vacant seat on the council. Demicco is one of two Democrats on the board.

The reception will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers, 1 Monteith Drive, Farmington.  Refreshments will be served.

The town has issued the following proclamation to mark Demicco's departure from the council and honor his service:

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, Michael Demicco has served on the Farmington Town Council asa Council Member from 2006 to 2012, and

WHEREAS, Michael Demicco worked with various Town Boards and Commissions and as liaison to the Human Relations Commission, the Stephen A. Flis Scholarship Fund, the UCONN Health Center Committee(s) and theWater Pollution Control Authority, and

WHEREAS, Michael Demicco also served as a member on both the Elderly Tax Relief Subcommittee and the Ethics Ordinance Subcommittee, and

WHEREAS, Michael Demicco was a representative to the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM), and

WHEREAS, in addition to his many and varied duties, Michael Demicco was an active member of the East Farms P.T.O. Executive Board, served as a tutor in the Kindergarten Acceleration Program, and was a volunteer at the Library, and

WHEREAS, Michael Demicco has always maintained a focus on the public good and acted to protect the public interest over private interests while donating countless hours of time, energy and personal commitment to better our community and enrich the lives of the residents of the Town of Farmington.

NOW THEREFORE, the Farmington Town Council hereby commends Council Member Michael Demicco for his excellent work on behalf of the community and we hereby thank him for his selfless dedication and immeasurable contributions and commitment to the Town of Farmington and its residents. The Farmington Town Council hereby extends to Michael, his wife Brenda, and their two daughters, best wishes on their future endeavors.
