Remaining Outages Caused by 'Significant Infrastructure Issues'

Despite Farmington's limited alottment of CL&P resources, the utility has halved the number of people without power in the past 24 hours and they're working on outages across town one by one.

The problem is that those remaining are not simple issues, Town Council Chairman Jeff Hogan said Wednesday morning.

"Any remaining outages involve significant infrastructure issues," Hogan said. "These situations are diagnosed as being a bit more complicated, including those off Lovely Street and others."

Currently, CL&P has a crew working on the Meadow Farms complex, which impacts a couple hundred residents. And as soon as there are resources available, crews will be heading to Lovely Street and the towns remaining outage areas. But residents should bear in mind that fixing those issues may take longer because they have greater complications.

Still, the town can be assured that officials are pressing CL&P for information and action.

A press release from the town this morning states, "The Town has and continues to express our concerns to CL&P regarding the restoration process. We continue to press them to restore power to our remaining residents without power ASAP."

Garbage

The town's garbage contractor is working to catch up on collection and get back on a normal schedule, Hogan said. That means that residents should put out their trash if their collection day was missed and trucks will come around and collect it, otherwise follow the normal schedule.

"The contractor is going back to neighborhoods to get it picked up. They've been making multiple rounds to neighborhoods and our goal is to get back to a degree of normalcy as quickly as possible," Hogan said.

Halloween

Hogan reiterated that Halloween is not canceled and that residents may trick-or-treat as usual, using care.
