The State Board of Education Wednesday unanimously approved Gov. Malloy's education reform bill in its original form, according to the Hartford Courant.
The vote followed a presentation by state Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor, who explained the differences between the original bill and the version revised by the Education Committee. The Board wants legislators to restore certain aspects of the original bill, including reduced funding for low-performing schools and Malloy's new tenure system.
Board chairman Allan Taylor called Malloy's version a "coherent proposal" while the revised version "does not accomplish what needs to be accomplished."
The Education Committee approved a revised version of the bill on March 27.
