The chambers distributed their recommendations for the 2012 State Legislative Agenda, which focused on four key areas: state budget and taxation, state government and municipalities, business competitiveness and job growth, and transportation and infrastructure.

After a brief introduction with both Republican and Democrat legislators on the economic problems facing Connecticut, the legislators took questions from the audience on issues facing the lawmakers in the upcoming 2012 session. The questions covered a wide variety of topics including state spending, deficit reduction, taxes, job growth, unfunded state mandates and transportation issues.

“The increase of taxes, regulation and mandates has crippled our small businesses which are the backbone of our state’s economy and employment. In order for us to see economic growth come back to Connecticut we must stop placing more burdens on the backs of our tax-paying citizens and learn how to cut our spending” said Wadsworth. “Going forward the legislation that we introduce that effects businesses should have a nonpartisan analysis of its impact on either job growth or job loss. I will continue my efforts in Hartford to fight for a responsible, business friendly budget in the upcoming session.”
