Preseason Training at Porter's


Porter's athletic teams began preseason training over spring break.The varsity and junior varsity lacrosse teams traveled to Advance Sports in Middletown, Conn., where they focused on stick skills, fitness, and team development. Led by Head Coach Ana Calciano and Coach Jez McIntosh, the varsity team kicks off its season on Saturday, March 29 with a playday at The Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass. The JV team, led by Head Coach Sara Griesbach and Coach Jennifer Graham, has its first game on Wednesday, April 2 against Farmington High School.

The varsity softball team traveled to Orlando, Fla., for five days of spring training at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. The team participated in 15 hours of practice and competed in four unofficial games. Led by Head Coach Melanie Joseph, the team's first game will take place on Wednesday, April 2 at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn.

The varsity crew team attended spring training camp at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. During the preseason camp, the rowers and coxswains utilized Trinity's facilities, including rowing machines and the indoor rowing tanks, to develop their skills. They also participated in six "on the water" sessions on the Connecticut River. Led by Head Coach Doug Befroy and Coach Andre Albert, the team kicks off its season against Newton Country Day School on Saturday, April 26.
