Swimming & Diving Place 2nd at Founder's Championship

On Saturday, February 22, Porter’s varsity swimming and diving team hosted the 6th annual Founders League Championship, ending an impressive season with a second place finish.

The meet started strongly, with a Porter’s victory in  the 200 Medley Relay. The team consisted of Celeste Salopek '15, Melania Stepanenko '17, Ariel Chu '14, and Sydni Johnson '15 and finished with a time of 1:54.25. The Porter’s 200 Freestyle team of Celeste Salopek, Christina Guertin '15, Ella Cowan de Wolf '16, and Sydni Johnson also won their event. setting a new pool record with a time of 1:43.68.

The team also had strong individual performances. Celeste Salopek (200 Individual Medley, 100 Backstroke), Sydni Johnson (50 Freestyle) and Christina Guertin (500 Freestyle) placed first in their events and were named Founders League Champions.

Porter’s varsity swimming and diving next competes at the New England Championships, to be  held Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Conn.
