Board Sets Farmington High Graduation Date

Date will stay, even if schools are closed again.

The Farmington Board of Education set the 2013 graduation date for Farmington High School Tuesday night.

Due to six snow days that needed to be tacked onto the end of the year, graduation will be held June 27, a Thursday.

The date falls at the end of the month because state statute dictates that graduation may not be held until districts have held 180 days of school.

In case of another snow day, the June 27 date will hold firm, according to information in the board agenda.

“State statute does allow a district to establish a firm graduation date on or after April 1… Thereafter, if a high school has to be closed… graduation may be held on the established day; and seniors would have to return to school after graduation to complete 180 days of school.”
