Listening Adventures - Latin American Classical Music

An evening of music with Listening Adventures Founder, David Sims

On Monday, October 29, 2012, at 7pm, the Farmington Libraries welcome back David Sims, founder of Listening Adventures, for a musical program on Latin American Classical Music.

The class on Latin American Classical Music is a wonderful tour through the colorful music of countries below the U.S. border: tangos from Argentina and Chile, guitar masterpieces from Paraguay and Bolivia, incredible dynamic piano music from Brazil and lovely harp music from Cuba, along with many other unique musical gems!  You'll also have the rare opportunity to hear sacred music from 16th-century Peru and secular music from renaissance Mexico...and conductor Gustavo Dudamel conducts several electrifying performances of the world-famous Venezuelan Youth Orchestra.

Listening Adventures is a program of enrichment in the area of western classical music, designed primarily for seniors and other adults with an interest in the arts. While there are admirable projects for children, underprivileged youth, and other similar groups, there are fewer resources for adults, especially seniors, who have proven to be remarkably insightful and appreciative of the intellectual challenges and emotional rewards that programs like Listening Adventures provides. It is a non-profit entity, founded by David Sims and driven by his love of music and passion for sharing it. For more information on this initiative, visit the Listening Adventures web site at: http://listeningadventures.net/.

This event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is required for this program.
