Professional Clarinetist, Andrew Simon performs for Farmington High School musicians

Andrew Simon, principle clarinetist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Symphony performed for the Farmington High School music department on Jaurary 10, 2011.  Mr. Simons presented a master class to members of the music department last Friday. Students were amazed with his level of virtuosity and mastery of performance.  Additional student musicians gained experience in the master class at teaching from an accomplished player in one of the leading orchestras in the world.

One student commented, "he played with such expression and musicality, it was like he was the music."   Another student said, "I liked the way he told us that a meaningful and significant performance happens when the performer takes the music to another level of expression and style."

Presently, Mr. Simon is on sabbatical from the Hong Kong Philharmonic while teaching clarinet at Yale and presenting master classes and concerts all over the county. He was very generous with his time performing for over 150 students and working with eleven members of the wind ensemble. Mr. Simon has a local connection with Farmington. He is the uncle of music students, Christopher and Charlie Thomas.
