China is a country rich in culture, history, and tradition; it is one of the world's oldest civilizations. This presentation by the Connecticut Chinese Cultural Association will give an overview of the essence and uniqueness of the traditional Chinese culture, how that rich tradition was interrupted, and how the authentic culture is coming back to the world stage through genuine artistic values and presentations such as those from the increasingly popular Shen Yun Performing Arts, which is scheduled to have three shows at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, Connecticut from April 13-14, 2013.
The 1-hour session, presented by William Cheung, will include a slide and video presentation as well as a short Chinese dance workshop. The audience will also have hands-on experience with classical Chinese dance props like the long ribbon, waist drum, and fans.
