Farmington High Makes Another List of America's Best Schools

Newsweek ranks FHS at No. 405 out of 2,000 high schools.

Farmington High School has made the top 500 in Newsweek's recently released list of America's Best High Schools.

FHS came in at No. 405 of the 2,000 ranked schools, the seventh-highest ranking in Connecticut. Other area schools that ranked in the top 1,000 were Connecticut IB Academy in East Hartford, 112; Glastonbury, 456; Hall High School in West Hartford, 630; Conard High School in West Hartford, 721; South Windsor High School, 742; and Canton High School, 817.

U.S. News and World Report ranked Farmington High School No. 5 in Connecticut last month, moving up from No. 10 the year before.

Newsweek's list is based on six components: graduation rate (25 percent), college acceptance rate (25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores (10 percent), and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP/IB/AICE course (5 percent).
